The Tools
The most common tool leveraged in this space is the ubiquitous “Post-It” – the end users keeping this yellow slip with all their usernames and passwords.

Of course this is inadequate. Tools such as Netegrity SiteMinder reduce this proliferation by allowing both commercial and in-house applications to use a standard identity. And it saves the end user from remembering multiple passwords.

In the same vein, Oracle’s Identity Management – part of Oracle’s Application Server product line – provides sufficient capabilities, although not as many as some of the top end ones.
